The question: What can we do to make the world a better place?

Our world is an awesome place.

We know that nature feels good, a sense of community feels good, and a peaceful environment feels good.

Yet we seem to be at a tipping point where if we continue the way we are, our very existence and experience of life on earth is under threat. The answers have to come from all of us, and everyone has something to offer.

With this in mind, I have been inspired to create a garden which invites people to share their ideas for building a better world.

I asked myself..."how could I let other peoples' ideas come into the garden? and then it struck me....I will ask a question, and place the answers I receive into the garden. The question will be broad, because it isn't just the environment that needs attention" (Carl Pickens, One Earth Matters).

The answers will be embedded into the garden in a unique and special way, and in March 2010 you can find out how.

The Question: What can we do to make the world a better place?

Your answer will form part of our 2010 exhibit at Ellerslie.

Your answer can be a word, a sentence, or a few sentences. It can focus on the natural environment, or people, or whatever you want.

Please email your answer to carl@oneearthmatters.co.nz, and include your name, your age (all ages welcome), and where you live. This isn't limited to people living in Christchurch, you can take part no matter where you live.

We may contact you and invite you to a special event to welcome the ideas into the garden. If so you will have a chance to walk through the garden just a few days before the show opens.
